Halloumi Cheese

It is so easy to fall in love with this grilling Cypriot cheese. I love this cheese escpeically when it’s made from goat’s or Sheep’s milk. The tangy, firm and chewy taste can easily be added to your sandwiches. When grilled, it does not lose it’s shape but rather becomes crispy on the outside.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce HALLOUMI
  • 3 TBS olive oil
  • 1 TBS za’atar
  • Pita or lavash bread

Instructions

  1. Rinse the halloumi and pat dry. Cut the halloumi to ¼ inch slices.
  2. Heat oil in heavy pan, fry the halloumi for 3 minutes or until it’s golden brown and

Lip over and fry the other side. Transfer to a plate, sprinkle with za’atar and serve warm.
