Watermelon Diaries: Summer Cocktail

This cocktail recipe is Eastern Mediterranean flavors and joy. I invite you to come with me to a remote Eastern Mediterranean village by the sea. You hear the waves of the Mediterranean sea, some chatter in the distance, happy laughs of children playing outside, aromas of grilling lamb and fish and who can deny the aromas of fresh fried potatoes on a summer day. Amongst in all simplicity, you realize that it is a cocktail hour and your Eastern Mediterranean refrigerator has fresh herbs and big juicy watermelon and some vodka.

Ingredients

  • Half a watermelon cut in cubes and few thin triangles as garnish
  • 2 TBS fresh basil
  • 3 2 TBS fresh mint and some for garnish
  • 2 limes juiced
  • 3 2 TBS red sumac for the rim

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail mixer, add the vodka the fresh herbs and some watermelon
    juice and stir.
  2. Pour the sumac in a saucer. Wet the rims of two beautiful martini glasses and
    dip it in the sumac making sure all of the rim is covered with sumac. Add
    few ice cubes and pour over the cocktail. Add some fresh mint and the
    watermelon triangle garnish.
