Fetta Coated in Sesame Seeds

While cheese boards are popular, I often find them expensive and prone to wastage. This recipe offers a delightful alternative, featuring premium imported feta cheese. The combination of saltiness, fried sesame crust, and the sweetness of honey creates a conversation-worthy dish that will dazzle your guests.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz good block quality imported feta
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 6 tbsp pomegranate seeds for decoration
  • ¼ cup olive oil for frying
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Slice the feta into 1-inch fingers or cut into two triangles, depending on your preference.
  2. Beat the egg in a small bowl and add black pepper.
  3. Place flour on a flat plate.
  4. Mix the sesame seeds together in a separate shallow dish.
  5. In a small frying pan, heat the oil.
  6. Dredge each feta piece first in egg, then flour, egg again, followed by sesame seeds. Ensure even coating on all sides.
  7. Fry in the hot oil, cooking all sides until golden brown (approximately 2 minutes per side).
  8. Place the feta fingers on a serving plate and drizzle with honey. Sprinkle pomegranate seeds for a vibrant touch.
